If you are wondering which cleanser is best for your skin type and skin concerns; you are not alone. With so many options on the market today, our choices can seem overwhelming complicated... Is a gel based cleanser better than a creamier cleanser? Does a cleanser have to foam to properly cleanse the skin? What about targeted ingredients? When choosing the proper cleanser it first begins with YOU and your skin:
PORE SIZE determines how oily or dry your skin is. Take a look in the mirror at your pores (with a freshly washed face) and decide if you have small, medium or large pores. Often times our pores are largest in our “T-Zone”, our forehead, nose and chin area. Once deciding on pore size, next is cleanser consistency:
The CONSISTENCY of a cleanser determines how exactly it will remove dirt, oil and any other remaining reside from the skin. If you noticed smaller pores and tend to have dry skin, then a creamier cleanser is what you’re looking for. The thickness of the cleanser will actually leave a film of protection on your skin when cleansed. If you have large pores and oily skin, then a gel cleanser is for you. Gel cleansers rinse skin completly clean of all oils and residues. Now, if you happen to have combination skin this is where things can get tricky as half of the skin needs one thing (less oil) while the other half is requiring something else (moisture). In cases such as these, I recommend a gel or foaming cleanser, while maintaining your moisture levels with a hyaluronic acid serum on a daily basis. INGREDIENTS to look for include: hyaluronic acid, ceramides, peptides and vitamin c for all skin types. For oilier skin types look for: salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid. STEER CLEAR of cleansers which have alcohols or sulphates in them as these ingredients can be drying even to oilier skin types. As always, our cleansers (locally made in Camarillo) have NO harmful ingredients and are extremely potent due to their freshness.
